About the Ontario Veterinary College

The University of Guelph is renowned in Ontario, Canada and internationally as a research-intensive learner-centred institution committed to the development of innovative teaching and learning programs and processes. Consistent with that culture is the mission of the Ontario Veterinary College:

“To educate veterinarians and scientists, create new knowledge and provide expert services to improve the health and well-being of animals, people and the environment.”

The Ontario Veterinary College (OVC) is the oldest veterinary college in the United States and Canada and one of only five in Canada.  The OVC has an enrolment of approximately 480 student veterinarians and 365 graduate students.  As the only veterinary college in Ontario, OVC has a lasting impact on the economy of the province, contributing to the creation of new jobs and businesses and preparing highly-qualified personnel to fulfill many key animal health and research needs in Ontario, Canada and internationally.
