15th Annual Smiling Blue Skies Calgary Walk for Canine Cancer raises more than $24,000 for OVC Pet Trust

A dedicated group of 34 walkers have raised more than $24,000 this year for the 15th Annual Smiling Blue Skies Walk for Canine Cancer in Calgary. All funds will support OVC Pet Trust and cancer care, teaching and discovery at the Ontario Veterinary College (OVC), University of Guelph.

Smiling Blue Skies founder Suzi Beber and Pet Trust’s Managing Director Kim Robinson both traveled to Calgary to mark the milestone occasion this April.

“The Calgary team is an incredible group of committed and compassionate individuals. A big thank you goes out to the volunteer organizing team which included Leanne Tucker, Mary Shillabeer, Barb Burgess and Carolyn Tucker,” says Suzi Beber. “It was such an honour to be able to be a part of this special day.”

The Calgary walk has raised approximately $250,000 over the past 15 years, and the plans for next year’s event are already in the works.

“Suzi and Smiling Blue Skies have done so much to help OVC advance the prevention and treatment of cancer, as well as create leading edge facilities to treat cancer in pets,” says Kim Robinson, Managing Director of OVC Pet Trust. “It was wonderful to be able to attend the event this year and witness the commitment of our supporters in Calgary first hand.”

The Smiling Blue Skies Cancer Fund was created in 2001, and has raised more than $1.8 million to support Pet Trust’s quest to find more and better ways to deal with canine cancer. To learn more, read the 2016 Smiling Blue Skies Update Report
